The size of the property alone does not explain the work. Detail what needs cleaning and which residue or materials need reviewing.
“Cleaning after renovation” may mean removing dust from a few rooms or dealing with floors, glass, frames and adhered residue throughout the home. Before requesting a quote, describe the current condition and specify which areas are included. Do not assume rubble removal or treatment of every stain is included.
The route worth explaining
List the rooms affected and spaces that dust may have reached. Distinguish empty areas from furnished ones. If there are cupboards, explain whether the interiors will be cleaned and whether they will be clear. For windows, state how many there are and which parts you want included, without assuming that “glass” also covers shutters or tracks.
- Area and rooms to be cleaned.
- Materials of floors, walls, worktops and joinery.
- Loose dust, visible residue and stains of unknown origin.
- Water, electricity, access and the expected construction completion date.
- Outstanding work that could dirty completed areas again.
Materials change the questions
Keep references for new finishes. The technical data sheet for Kerakoll’s Delta Plus, for example, excludes materials such as marble and wood. This is not a recommendation for use: ask the company to confirm that the method is compatible with your surfaces.
You can send overview photos and photos of the residue, trying to show the surrounding surface. A photo does not always identify the material or determine how a stain will be removed. If this information is missing, leave it pending review.
Request a proposal identifying the included tasks, exclusions and how residue needing a separate assessment will be addressed. Specify who removes building materials before the visit and who will be available to check the result.
