Before the visit, agree what must be removed and which renovation work will still be pending.

If a wall still needs sanding or material still needs cutting after cleaning, some of the work may need repeating. Coordinate the date with whoever manages the renovation and the cleaning company. Completion of the main tasks is not enough: find out what work remains in the areas you want to hand over clean.
Confirm the condition before the visit
- List the building work still outstanding and where it will take place.
- Clarify who will remove tools, packaging and construction materials.
- Agree which furniture or cupboard interiors will be cleared.
- Confirm access, key handover and the availability of water and electricity.
- Gather finish references and contact details to resolve questions.
Distinguish belongings you want to keep from items that need to be removed. A box by the door may contain leftover material or a piece you need to keep. Avoid leaving the company to interpret that difference: identify what stays and agree on the scope of removal.
If the home is furnished, specify who will move each object and which areas will be accessible. “Clean the bedroom” does not by itself cover the cupboard interior, the space under a storage bed or behind furniture. Include these tasks in the quote.
Information to keep handy
Keep labels or references for new flooring, worktops and joinery. If you do not know which material was installed, ask whoever supplied or fitted it. The company needs these references to assess which methods are compatible; avoid choosing a treatment without this check.
Take photos of the initial condition when they help explain the tasks, avoiding unnecessary personal information. At the end, set aside time to walk through the agreed areas with the company. If something prevents an area from being completed, record what remains outstanding and how it will be reviewed later.
